A Special Cheesy Soup for the Sick

One day, a friend called inviting me to visit a sick friend in his home. He was living alone with no parents or relatives within the area. So I agreed going after work. When we got there, our friend has high fever. Increased body heat speeds up metabolism. We thought of preparing a soup to put something in his stomach. We located the refrigerator and searched for something that can help us come up for a recipe that is something special.  But his fridge has only Gruyere Cheese and milk. We kept thinking how we can make some soup with these.

After a few minutes, we also found some bread crumbs and mustard.  With these ingredients on hand, I remembered the cheese soup I once stumbled on while surfing the internet. We cannot follow the exact recipe due to some missing ingredients but we were determined to make some soup. We went on experimenting. We placed the 1 ½ cup of milk, fresh bread crumbs and mustard in blender. We put it on low speed until smooth. Then, we poured the mixture on the saucepan and add the remaining 1 ½ cup of milk and Gruyere cheese. We cooked it over low heat and stirred it constantly until the cheese melted. We continued heating it but we did not boil it as stated in the recipe list. We then tasted it. Hmmmm… Delicious! The fine, spicy with a nutty, slightly salty flavor and a distinguished aroma of Gruyere cheese made this soup extra special.

We served the soup warm enough for our sick friend to handle. He ate and we gave him the medication he needed. We kept him company until his fever subsided before the night was over. What happened made me realize that Gruyere cheese itself can make wonders in your dishes. Try to experiment your own dishes like we did. Buy your Gruyere cheese now in the nearest gourmet cheese shop or order online.
